COURSE CONTENT

Basic construction, names of components, purpose and use of all controls and gauges

Use of handbook and other information sources including legislation and Approval Codes of Practice

Operator documentation, certificates, method statements, lift plans, duties charts etc

Pre-use, start, running checks and close down procedure, including emergency lowering procedure

Controlling the MEWP from all available operating positions including remote devices if applicable
-
Maneuvering the MEWP, progressing to maneuvering in confined area to include tight turns in forward and reverse and travelling in the raised position (self-propelled machines only)

How to position the MEWP up to maximum height in areas of limited access

How to position the MEWP up to the maximum reach in areas of limited access

Explain all displayed information on the machine

Carry out all pre-use and running checks

Carry out emergency lowering procedures

Operate controls from ground level, and from within the working platform

Maneuver the MEWP involving tight turns and limited access using both forward and reverse motions

Travel the MEWP with the platform in a raised position, (self-propelled units only)

Position the platform up to maximum working height

COURSE AIM
Our Fork Lift Training Course is designed to provide learners with an understanding of safe operation and pre-operational checks of counterbalance and reach forklift trucks. We will cover the relevant legislation and dangers associated with work involving the use of these types of trucks. By the end of the course, learners will be able to demonstrate competence when operating forklift trucks and successfully pass both the theoretical and practical simulated testing. Our aim is to ensure that all learners leave the course with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely operate forklift trucks.
ADDITIONAL INFO
Operatives attending this course should be physically and mentally fit to withstand the rigours of training.
The course content includes awareness of periodic examinations of equipment and pre-use inspections processes
Operatives must have their own PPE for this training including the following basic items: Safety Footwear, Hi-Visibility vest, Gloves, Hearing Protection and additional items such as waterproof pants & Hi-Vis jackets recommended in case of inclement weather
