IPAF training (International Powered Access Federation) provides operators with the knowledge and practical skills to safely use Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), such as scissor lifts, boom lifts, and cherry pickers. On successful completion, delegates receive an official IPAF PAL card and ePAL digital licence, valid for 5 years.

Safety Panda delivers the core IPAF categories:

• 1b – Static Boom (vehicle-mounted, trailer-mounted, spider lifts)

• 3a – Mobile Vertical (scissor lifts)

• 3b – Mobile Boom (cherry pickers, articulated and telescopic booms)

Anyone required to operate MEWPs in the workplace should complete IPAF training. This includes construction workers, warehouse staff, maintenance and facilities teams, and contractors who use access platforms for work at height.

Most IPAF operator courses take one full day to complete, combining classroom theory with practical training and assessments.

The IPAF PAL card and ePAL digital licence are valid for 5 years. After this, operators must complete a refresher course to stay certified.

Yes. Safety Panda delivers IPAF-accredited training nationwide across the UK. Courses can be held at our approved centre or directly at your workplace if suitable MEWPs and facilities are available.

Delegates should bring:

• Photographic ID (passport or driving licence)

• Suitable PPE (hard hat, high-vis vest, safety boots, harness if applicable)
